Synopsis of CSI: NY

A team of crime scene investigators works in the forensic lab of the New York City Police Department. It is led by Detective Mac Taylor, a former Marine born in Chicago, played by Gary Sinise. Alongside him work Stella Bonasera, Danny Messer, Don Flack, Lindsay Monroe, and Dr. Sheldon Hawkes, each with their own way of reading the evidence. The series is set in New York and combines forensic deduction with criminal profiling, in the vein of its predecessors. Each case begins with mysterious or unusual deaths, and the team must reconstruct the circumstances until they uncover who is behind them. Created by Anthony E. Zuiker, it airs on CBS as the third installment of the CSI franchise.

Trivia about CSI: NY

Gary Sinise, Carmine Giovinazzo, Hill Harper, and Eddie Cahill are the only actors who appeared in all 197 episodes of the series.
The first season was shot with a dark blue light that was later dropped so the series wouldn't feel so cold, which improved the picture's clarity.
The series grew out of an episode of CSI: Miami, "Miami NY, Nonstop," in which Lieutenant Horatio Caine chases the suspected killer of a married couple all the way to New York.
The opening theme of CSI: NY took the first verse of "Baba O'Riley" by The Who, and starting in the fourth season it was reworked as an instrumental piece.
The series was shot at CBS Studio Center, although many exterior scenes were filmed in Los Angeles and its surroundings.
The ninth season ended with 9.46 million viewers and a 1.2 share among adults aged 18 to 49; it was the last before the series was canceled.
CBS canceled the series on May 10, 2013, after nine seasons, following two years in which it had avoided cancellation by moving to Fridays.
Sela Ward replaced Melina Kanakaredes as the female lead starting in the seventh season, when she took on the role of Jo Danville.
