Synopsis of Justified

Raylan Givens is a federal marshal in the United States who resembles a gunslinger from the Old West, though he lives in the present day. His unconventional methods lead to clashes with his bosses at the Marshals Service. After shooting a fugitive in Miami, he is transferred to Kentucky, to the district that covers his hometown, Harlan County, in the mountains of the state's east. There he reconnects with old acquaintances, several of whom make their living from crime. Raylan wants to do things his way, but each clash with the area's criminals pushes him to cross the lines of legality. Timothy Olyphant plays the lead, and Graham Yost wrote the series, which airs on FX.

«He's law and order.»

Trivia about Justified

The small town of Green Valley, California, often stands in for Harlan, Kentucky, while the pilot was filmed in Pittsburgh and in the areas around Kittanning and Washington, Pennsylvania.

The character of Boyd was meant to die in the pilot, but Yost kept him after test audiences responded favorably to Walton Goggins's performance.

The theme song, "Long Hard Times to Come," is performed by Gangstagrass, a New York-based group, and features rapper T.O.N.E-z among its vocalists.

Starting with season three, the show was shot with EPIC cameras from Red Digital Cinema Camera Company, and director of photography Francis Kenny said the production would be ten times larger.

The pilot was watched by 4.2 million viewers and was FX's highest-rated premiere since The Shield.

Elmore Leonard placed the series among the best adaptations of his work and praised Olyphant's casting, describing him as "the kind of guy I saw when I wrote his lines."

The sixth season was renewed on January 14, 2014 and was announced as the final season by joint decision of executive producer Graham Yost and Timothy Olyphant; production began that September.

Justified received eight Primetime Emmy nominations and won two: Margo Martindale was awarded for playing Mags Bennett, and Jeremy Davies for his role as Dickie Bennett.
