Synopsis of Yellowstone

John Dutton runs the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, in Montana, near Darby. His property is under constant pressure. Real estate developers looking to buy land, the Broken Rock Indian Reservation and the country's first national park are fighting over the boundaries of his pastures. Behind these conflicts are politicians bought by major oil and timber companies, and the atmosphere is that of a frontier where violence rarely makes the news. Dutton must defend what is his while tensions grow within his own family. Created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, the series airs on Paramount Network and stars Kevin Costner as the patriarch.

Trivia about Yellowstone

Taylor Sheridan originally wrote Yellowstone as a film and pitched it under the idea of "The Godfather in Montana" before bringing it to television.
Sheridan pitched the series to HBO, but the network turned it down, and it ended up on Paramount Network.
The two-hour premiere averaged 2.8 million live and same-day viewers, according to the network.
The premiere of the fourth season drew 12.7 million viewers, while the third season's premiere attracted 7.6 million.
In May 2023, Paramount announced that Kevin Costner would leave the series at the end of the first part of the fifth season.
NBCUniversal bought the U.S. streaming rights to the series in 2020 for Peacock, which premiered the first two seasons in July of that year.
John Dutton's "log cabin mansion" is filmed at the main house of Chief Joseph Ranch, which today operates as a guest ranch south of Darby.
Oscar-nominated costume designer Ruth E. Carter joined the production in August 2017 and left after the first season.
