Selina Meyer, a former senator from Maryland, has just become Vice President of the United States and finds the job is bigger than she expected. She does not feel comfortable in her position as second in command, which often keeps her out of political decisions, and her relationship with the president is strained. She wants to leave her mark and build a legacy, but her day-to-day life unfolds in Washington, D.C., amid meetings, cameras and power games. To survive, she relies on a team of loyal yet insecure advisers: Amy Brookheimer, her chief of staff, who sacrifices her own reputation to protect Selina's credibility; Gary Walsh, her personal aide; and Mike McLintock, communications director. The series, created by Armando Iannucci and aired on HBO, follows this group as they try to get the vice presidency off the ground with Julia Louis-Dreyfus at the helm.
