Synopsis of Beavis and Butt-Head

Beavis and Butt-Head are two dim-witted teenagers who are fans of heavy metal and hard rock and live in the fictional town of Highland, Texas. They spend their days in front of the TV, eating and drinking junk food, and get into mundane, sleazy adventures that usually end in vandalism or cruelty to animals. Their only real concern is finding something to entertain them and, while they're at it, hook up. Most episodes include segments in which they watch music videos and comment on them in their own way, with a preference for explosions, screeching guitars and screaming. Created by Mike Judge, who also voices both leads, the series airs on MTV.

Trivia about Beavis and Butt-Head

The voice of Beavis was inspired by a guy in Mike Judge's high school calculus class who always laughed in a distinctive way at his attractive teacher.
Judge had shot his first short films on his own with 800 dollars, and the seven-figure budget the network offered him for the series left him astonished.
Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day appeared as live-action versions of the leads in a Saturday Night Live sketch in April 2024 that went viral.
The premiere of the 2011 revival was a ratings hit, with 3.3 million viewers, although the number dropped to 900,000 by the end of the season.
During its original run, Beavis and Butt-Head was MTV's most-watched show, and in 1993 Rolling Stone called it the biggest phenomenon on the network since the golden age of Michael Jackson.
The band Puscifer dedicated the song “The Arsonist” to Beavis, included on their album Money Shot from 2015, whose chorus and one of its lines mention him explicitly.
After the death of a two-year-old girl in a fire set by her brother in Ohio in 1993, MTV pulled four episodes, removed all references to fire and moved the series to the 22:30 to 23:30 time slot.
The controversy over the violence and its influence on minors sparked public debate and the intervention of media watchdog groups, who accused MTV of airing the series at times accessible to children.
