Synopsis of Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu

The series takes place in Ninjago, a fictional kingdom loosely inspired by the myths and culture of East Asia. Its traditionally designed buildings coexist with Ninjago City, a great metropolis of skyscrapers, futuristic vehicles and mechanical exo-suits. A group of teenage ninjas, made up of Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane, Nya and Lloyd, faces the forces of evil. Sensei Wu trains them in Spinjitzu, the fictional martial art that defines their battles, while each one masters an elemental power. Lloyd, a mischievous boy who wants to be a villain like his father, complicates the plans of the four original ninjas. The heroes must master their powers and weapons to protect the kingdom. The series was created by Michael Hegner and Tommy Andreasen and aired on Cartoon Network.

Trivia about Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu

The first sketch of the characters, made by Tommy Andreasen at the end of 2009, already included the word "Spinjago," which would later become the name of the Spinjitzu martial art.

The skeletons were chosen as the main villains after a study conducted with six-year-old children, who considered them the perfect rivals for the ninjas.

The Hageman brothers created the character of Nya because they wanted the series to have a strong female lead, since the special was limited to 44 minutes.

The series' official theme song is The Weekend Whip, performed by The Fold, and it was remixed each season to reflect the theme of that stage of the show.

With the premiere of Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu, the episode length went from 22 to 11 minutes, a change that particularly upset fans of the series.
