Synopsis of Resident Alien

An alien crash-lands his spaceship in Patience, a small town in Colorado, on a secret mission: to wipe out humanity. To blend in, he kills a doctor who was on vacation and assumes his identity as Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle. Soon after, he is asked to perform the autopsy on the local doctor, who died under unknown circumstances, and ends up replacing him at the town's clinic. His plan to find a device from his ship runs into a moral dilemma that is increasingly hard to ignore. On top of all this, the mayor's son is the only one who can see his true appearance. Created by Chris Sheridan and starring Alan Tudyk, the series airs on Syfy.

Trivia about Resident Alien

Chris Sheridan explained that his real inspiration was a "close encounter" with an aerial phenomenon that he and his wife witnessed on their honeymoon in the Bahamas twenty years ago.
Keith Arbuthnot played the alien in his true form during the first season. From the second season on, Tudyk performed those scenes wearing a practical-effects mask.
Peter Hogan, who plays Agent Mr. Hogan in the third season, is also one of the co-creators of the comic book the series is based on.
Filming for the first season took place between September 10 and October 14, 2020, in Delta, British Columbia, Canada.
In November 2022, Syfy cut the third season from 12 episodes to 8.
«Resident Alien» was canceled in July 2025 after four seasons, and the episode that aired on August 8 served as the series finale.
