Synopsis of Zoo

Violent animal attacks are occurring around the world, and behind them lies a mysterious epidemic. To unravel it, a group of professionals from different countries joins forces. Jackson Oz, an American zoologist played by James Wolk, works alongside Abraham, his Kenyan friend and safari guide. They are joined by a Los Angeles reporter, an eccentric veterinary pathologist and a French intelligence agent. They are all recruited to investigate why animals are attacking people with growing coordination and ferocity. Based on the novel of the same name by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge, the series airs on CBS.

Trivia about Zoo

In October 2013, CBS announced an unusual pilot production for Zoo, stemming from a proposal by its sister studio, CBS TV Studios.

In July 2014, CBS ordered 13 more episodes of the series for its summer schedule.

Gracie Dzienny went from guest star at the end of the second season to a regular cast member in the third.

The series began filming in New Orleans, and the second season was shot in the outskirts of Vancouver.

Netflix held the streaming rights in eight countries and lost the series in June 2022.

CBS canceled the series due to low ratings, so there will be no fourth season.

James Wolk explained that many scenes with animals were filmed separately: the actors were shot first, then the animals, and the two images were then combined through editing and visual effects.

PETA publicly criticized CBS for using real animals, including lions, instead of relying solely on computer-generated imagery; the organization called for the series to be discontinued.
