Synopsis of Brothers and Sisters

The Walkers are a wealthy family from Los Angeles made up of Nora, played by Sally Field, and her five adult children. They all live anxious about the image of unity the clan projects. The story kicks off at Kitty's birthday party, a role Calista Flockhart plays as a radio host and conservative activist, when patriarch William, founder of the family business Ojai Foods, suddenly dies. Sarah and Tommy work as executives at the company, while Kevin, who is gay, tries to fit into an environment that has never made things easy for him. His father's death uncovers secrets about his life that shake everyone and force the siblings to rethink their bonds. Created by Jon Robin Baitz, the series airs on the American network ABC and reached Spain first on Fox and later on Cuatro.

Trivia about Brothers and Sisters

The Walker family was originally called March, and Betty Buckley was cast to play Iva March, the original matriarch.
Kevin's character was originally named Bryan and was played by actor Jonathan LaPaglia.
The role of Jonathan was first intended for Dan Futterman, with whom the actor had already shared a scene as a lover in the film The Birdcage.
Sarah and Joe's son was autistic in the original pilot, but the role was recast and that storyline was dropped.
The series was filmed in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, with shoots in Santa Monica, South Pasadena and Pasadena.
Sally Field won a Primetime Emmy and a Screen Actors Guild Award for playing Nora Walker.
Showrunner Marti Noxon left the series before its premiere after a dispute with creator Jon Robin Baitz over its creative direction; Greg Berlanti later helped in the writers' room.
ABC canceled "Brothers & Sisters" in May 2011, after five seasons, and Dave Annable said in 2023 that the cast had not been told in advance that the series would end, so they had no chance to say goodbye.
