Synopsis of Beauty and the Beast

Catherine Chandler is an NYPD homicide detective working in New York City. As a teenager, she witnessed the murder of her mother at the hands of two armed men, and she only survived because someone, or something, intervened in time. Catherine is convinced her savior was human, but no one believes her, and that memory keeps haunting her. A case leads her to Vincent Keller, a former soldier who was declared dead in action during his military service but is, however, still alive. As Catherine gets to know him, she searches for answers about her mother's murder and about who Vincent really is. The series blends police procedural with a love story and aired on The CW. It stars Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan and was created by Ron Koslow, Sherri Cooper-Landsman and Jennifer Levin.

Trivia about Beauty and the Beast

Vincent's character was originally named Vincent Koslow, while in the original series he had no last name.
The pilot was shot in Canada between March 22 and April 2, 2012, before The CW picked it up in May of that year.
Starting with season two, filming was split between New York and Toronto, cities that also serve as the show's setting.
On Metacritic, it earned a weighted average score of 34 out of 100, based on reviews from 20 critics.
Mary McNamara of the Los Angeles Times praised Nina Lisandrello, who remains the only cast member with a positive review.
The series has received awards from the People's Choice Awards, the Teen Choice Awards and the Saturn Awards, among others.
The CW ordered a full season on November 9, 2012, after initially airing only some of the planned episodes.
The series ended after its fourth season due to low ratings that led the network to cancel it, although it kept the support of a loyal fan base.
