Synopsis of The Wilds

A group of teenagers from very different backgrounds flies to Hawaii to take part in a women's empowerment camp called Eve's Dawn. The plane crashes into the ocean, and the survivors are stranded on a deserted island, where they must learn to survive as castaways. Among them are a self-assured cellist from Berkeley, a New York diver with a twin sister, a former basketball player from Minnesota, and a young woman from Texas with survival skills. As they try to get organized and get to know one another, they don't realize they are part of an elaborate social experiment. Created by Sarah Streicher for Amazon Prime Video, the series focuses on how these girls bond and clash, with their secrets and traumas weighing on them.

Trivia about The Wilds

Most of the outdoor scenes for the first season were shot at Bethells Beach in New Zealand, where most of the outdoor footage was filmed.

Critics and advocacy groups praised the series' diverse cast, which includes Indigenous and queer characters.

Kristen Baldwin of Entertainment Weekly gave it a B+ and wrote that the mystery isn't why the girls are on the island, but how being there will change them.

Prime Video canceled “The Wilds” after two seasons, so the second season became the series finale and there will be no third season.

The cancellation was announced almost three months after the premiere of the second season, and the cast and crew learned the news shortly before the public announcement.

Following the cancellation, Sarah Streicher explained that the planned story would have followed Leah and the other young women as they tried to unravel Gretchen's conspiracy and confront her.
