Synopsis of Yellowjackets

Yellowjackets is a psychological drama series created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson for Showtime. In 1996, the players of a girls' high school soccer team from New Jersey travel to Seattle to compete in a national tournament. While flying over Canada, their plane crashes deep in the wilderness, far from any town. The survivors must endure there for nineteen months. Their only goal is to stay alive, and life together grows increasingly tense. The series alternates that present-day story in the forest with a timeline set twenty-five years after the crash, where the same women try to rebuild their lives. Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher and Sammi Hanratty play the younger characters, while Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis and Christina Ricci bring their adult versions to life.

«We hear the wilderness and it hears us.»

Trivia about Yellowjackets

The series was first offered to HBO, which turned it down in part because of its similarities to another series the network was developing.
The creators pitched the series to 16 or 17 networks with a 35-minute presentation and received offers from five.
The title comes from a Google search result for sports team names, and the creators chose it because it fits the show's themes.
The third season drew the series' largest audience to date, and Yellowjackets is the second most-streamed series in Showtime's history.
The series has earned 10 Primetime Emmy nominations in the drama category, including Outstanding Drama Series, along with acting nominations for Lynskey and Ricci.
The accident was filmed at the Panther paintball and airsoft park in Surrey, which served as the crash site.
Some of the actresses had to dye their hair and wear contact lenses to physically resemble their older versions.
Sophie Thatcher sent in a self-taped audition and won the role of Natalie before Juliette Lewis.
