Synopsis of Crystal Lake

Crystal Lake is an American slasher horror series created by Brad Caleb Kane and airing on Peacock. It serves as a prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise and is set eight years before the original 1980 film. Linda Cardellini plays Pamela Voorhees, a woman whose life changes when two strangers show up at her door asking about her past. Police chief Levon Brooks, played by William Catlett, and his sister Briana, a journalist, begin digging into what is happening in the town of Crystal Lake. What starts as an unexpected visit sets off unsettling events that force the neighbors to wonder who Pamela Voorhees really is.

Trivia about Crystal Lake

In 2005, Sean S. Cunningham planned a series called Crystal Lake Chronicles, set in a town with all of Jason's history, with Jason as a recurring supporting character.

The CW developed a Friday the 13th series in 2015, but the network decided to drop it a year later, deeming it not sustainable.

One episode, written by Bryan Fuller, was described as a "one-hour chase" through a frozen Crystal Lake.

Charlize Theron was at one point considered to play Pamela Voorhees, Jason's mother, during production.

Adrienne King, who played Alice Hardy in the 1980 movie, was confirmed for a recurring role, although she ultimately did not appear in the final version of the series.

Production moved to Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco in Blairstown, the same camp and town location used in the original 1980 movie.

The series debuted at No. 1 in the United States and Canada following its premiere on Peacock.

On Rotten Tomatoes, 76% of the 72 reviews are positive, with an average rating of 6.6/10.
