Synopsis of Wednesday

Wednesday Addams, a smart, cold and defiant teenager, is expelled from her school after unleashing live piranhas in the pool as revenge for the bullying that the water polo team directed at her brother Pugsley. Her parents, Gomez and Morticia, enroll her at the school where they themselves studied, Nevermore Academy, a private boarding school for young people with special abilities whom society has marginalized. The school is located in Jericho, Vermont. There Wednesday struggles to connect with her classmates while she investigates a murder mystery at her new school. The series, created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, stars Jenna Ortega and streams on Netflix.

Trivia about Wednesday

Tim Burton was approached to direct The Addams Family (1991), but turned it down due to scheduling conflicts with Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992).

To prepare for the role, Ortega learned to play the cello and took classes in canoeing, fencing, archery and German.

Romanian actor Victor Dorobantu plays Thing in a blue chroma-key suit that was erased in post-production, so only his hand remained visible.

The series accumulated 341 million hours viewed in its first week, a record for hours viewed in a single week for an English-language Netflix series.

The series won four Primetime Emmy Awards, and Ortega was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

Christina Ricci, who had played Wednesday in the 1991 movie, was invited by Burton to join the series in a supporting role.

Netflix renewed «Wednesday» for a third season ahead of the second season's premiere, which was split into two parts with releases planned for August 6 and September 3, 2025.

The second season added Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton and Christopher Lloyd, along with other guest stars such as Thandiwe Newton, Haley Joel Osment and Joonas Suotamo.
