Synopsis of Top of the Lake
A 12-year-old girl plunges into the icy waters of a lake on South Island, New Zealand, and disappears. It is Tui Mitcham, daughter of Matt Mitcham, the man who acts as the informal leader of the town of Laketop and whom his neighbors fear. Detective Robin Griffin, who specializes in sex crimes and is stationed in Sydney, investigates the case in this small town, where the Mitcham family dominates everyday life. With Elisabeth Moss as the lead, the miniseries presents a mystery that pits a woman against an isolated community that refuses to talk. Created by Jane Campion and Gerard Lee, it airs on BBC Two and SundanceTV.
