Synopsis of Disenchantment

In the medieval kingdom of Dreamland, Princess Bean has no interest in fulfilling the duties of the court. Rebellious and fond of drinking, she prefers taverns to the obligations her family expects of her. She is accompanied by Elfo, a naive little elf who follows her with enthusiasm, and Luci, her personal demon with a destructive streak. Together they try to escape the pressure from King Zøg, her father, who wants to marry her off for political convenience, while their escapades shake a kingdom that can't figure out how to tame her. Created by Matt Groening, the series airs on Netflix and stars the voices of Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon and Eric André.

Trivia about Disenchantment

One episode links the series to Futurama, and for a few seconds Philip J. Fry, Bender and Professor Hubert Farnsworth appear in a time machine.
The animation is handled by Rough Draft Studios, the same studio that had already worked on Futurama.
John DiMaggio, one of the voice cast members, describes the series as the offspring of The Simpsons and Game of Thrones.
Several cast members, including DiMaggio, MacNeille, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche and David Herman, had already voiced major characters in Futurama.
Writer Josh Weinstein cited Harry Potter and the works of Ray Bradbury and Philip K. Dick as inspiration for some of the show's most fantastical elements.
The first part earned a 62% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 89 reviews.
The third part suffered several delays, from an originally planned release at the end of 2020 to its premiere, now confirmed for January 15, 2021.
Josh Weinstein confirmed that the fifth part would be the last, because the team knew this decision before planning and writing it, which allowed them to wrap up the open storylines before its premiere on September 1, 2023.
