Synopsis of The Amazing World of Gumball

Gumball Watterson is an anthropomorphic blue cat, 12 years old, who lives in Elmore, a fictional town in the United States. Together with Darwin, a goldfish who is his adopted brother and best friend, he attends Elmore Junior High. The two get into frequent mischief around town, dragging along his sister Anais, an intellectual bunny; his father Richard, a lazy rabbit; and his mother Nicole, a cat who works tirelessly. Teacher Simian is the school's main antagonist and wants Gumball and his siblings expelled. Created by Ben Bocquelet for Cartoon Network, the series blends childish humor with more mature themes such as philosophy, marriage and cyberbullying.

Trivia about The Amazing World of Gumball

The series deliberately mixes animation styles, and several often combine within the same scene.

Ben Bocquelet started with characters that had been rejected from his previous advertising work, which he brought together in a series set in a school.

The series' most-watched episode is "Los Bobos," with 2.72 million viewers in the United States.

Cartoon Network announced in 2022 that the film based on the series would no longer premiere on HBO Max and would instead be sold to other outlets.

Season seven will be renamed The Marvelous Amazing World of Gumball, as revealed through a teaser in May 2025.

In 2014, Logan Grove and Kwesi Boakye stopped voicing Gumball and Darwin because their voices had changed as they grew up; the series brought in new voice actors and addressed the handover in an episode.

The production commissioned a second season of 20 episodes before the first had finished airing, according to Animation Magazine in 2011.

The new spin-off series will have 40 episodes and premiered on July 28, 2025 on Hulu in the United States; its international distribution was planned for Cartoon Network and HBO Max.
