Logan Grove never had to show his face for millions of people to recognize his voice. In 2011, he took the lead in The Amazing World of Gumball, bringing to life the blue protagonist of Cartoon Network. He was 12 years old when his voice became global through an anthropomorphic cat with behavioral problems.
In 2010, he had already started working on Young Justice as Garfield Logan. It was his first serious encounter with DC's superhero universe. That series allowed him to explore a more dramatic range than the sitcoms where he had taken his first steps in front of the camera.
Biology doesn't care about million-dollar contracts.
In 2014, he had to leave the role of Gumball. The physical changes to his larynx were obvious, and the producers decided to replace him with Jacob Hopkins to keep the character's sound consistent. It's an unwritten rule of children's voice acting that it usually ends abruptly, purely due to physiology.
Before these global hits, Grove worked in live-action productions such as The Bernie Mac Show and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. In 2010, he took part in the film adaptation of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. These were small roles that helped him understand how the industry worked from the inside before he settled into the recording booth.
In 2013, he ended his main participation in Young Justice after the second season wrapped. But his association with the character of Beast Boy remained strong in the memory of animation fans of that decade. Grove brought a vulnerability that few actors his age could convey in their dialogue.
And the silence was noticed.
In 2011, he also voiced supporting characters in video games such as Saints Row: The Third. He wasn't chasing mass fame but technical reliability in his performances. Voice work demands a discipline that many actors of his generation couldn't sustain under the pressure of tight deadlines.
His career drifted away from the major media spotlight as the 2020s went on. There were no major scandals or sensational tabloid covers in his public record. By 2019, his presence in big-budget productions had dropped sharply as he focused on personal projects far from the noise of Los Angeles.
Grove recorded more than 150 episodes before coming of age.
