Synopsis of Skins

Skins follows a group of teenagers from Bristol, in southwest England, during the years of youth when they begin to glimpse the adult world. The first episode, centered on Tony, introduces this handsome, popular and intelligent boy, who organizes a party at the home of Abigail Stock, a upper-class girl, for his friends. Tony's best friend, Sid, is around him, while the rest of the group deals with their own worries and family pressures. The series explores how these young people handle complicated situations that the adults around them cannot resolve. Created by Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain, it airs on the British channel E4, and Nicholas Hoult plays Tony.

Trivia about Skins

The episode "The trip to Russia" was actually filmed in Lithuania, near Vilnius, its capital, in collaboration with Lithuanian studios and actors.

It was announced in April 2008 that the original cast, except for Kaya Scodelario and Lisa Backwell, would be replaced in the third season.

Open casting calls for the second generation were held in Bristol and drew 1,500 young people aged 16 to 18.

An American version aired on MTV in 2011, but it was canceled after a single season when advertisers pulled out of the show.

In 2020, the series regained popularity among Gen Z audiences after popular TikTok users drew inspiration from Effy's style.

The fourth season debuted with 1.5 million viewers across E4 and E4+, the highest figure for a single episode of the series since the first season1.

«Skins» won the Rose d’Or for Best Drama in 2008 and received the Philips Audience Award at the 2009 BAFTA Awards.

The seventh season was announced as the last and was built around three standalone stories centered on former celebrities, aired under the titles «Skins Fire», «Skins Pure» and «Skins Rise».
