Happy Tree Friends

A forest of bright colors is the setting for Happy Tree Friends, where anthropomorphic animals live who look like they came straight out of an educational children's show. Their designs recall cuddly bears, with pie-shaped eyes, heart-shaped noses and boot-shaped feet. Each episode opens with the characters' calm everyday lives as they go about their routines, unaware of what awaits them. Soon, however, a sudden incident shatters that calm, almost always by accident and with strong graphic violence. The series was created by Aubrey Ankrum, Rhode Montijo and Kenn Navarro and is released on YouTube through Mondo Media. The cast consists of creatures that seem harmless, and the tension between that sweet appearance and the accidents is what drives the plot.
