Levi Fiehler grew up in a place where winter lasts far too long. Being born and raised in Juneau, Alaska, leaves a distinct mark, often showing up as a restrained physical presence that works well on camera. He trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where he learned that comedy isn't about cheap laughs but about keeping a straight face while everything falls apart around you.
In 2010, he appeared in a short film titled The Last Resort. It marked the start of a phase of small roles in productions that barely paid the bills. There were no desperate calls from top-tier agents or big premieres on red carpets during those early years of constant searching.
He's not a method actor in the traditional sense.
But the craft is learned in the trenches of episodic television. He appeared in The Fosters and had a brief appearance in Ray Donovan. These jobs helped him understand the rhythm of professional shoots, where time is money and there is no room for acting doubts. In 2016, he landed a more substantial role in Mars, the National Geographic series that blended documentary and fiction. He played Cameron Long, and the experience forced him to work with a technical rigor he had not known until then.
In 2021, his financial and professional situation took a dramatic turn with the premiere of Resident Alien. Playing Ben Hawthorne, the mayor of Patience, required a very fine balance between absolute naivety and constant existential panic. The Syfy series allowed him to showcase a comedic style built on awkwardness and erratic body language.
And his bet on dry humor paid off.
The chemistry with the rest of the cast worked because Fiehler chose not to compete for the spotlight. His character serves as a human, often pathetic counterpoint to Alan Tudyk's alien presence. It's a style of acting that doesn't chase easy applause, yet it carries the emotional weight of the subplots without the viewer ever losing interest.
In 2023, the series production faced logistical delays and changes in international distribution. Despite the uncertainty, the actor stayed committed to the character of Ben. For an actor who has spent years jumping from one audition to the next, having a chair with his name on it on a stable set is the true triumph of the profession.
The contract for the fourth season was signed in June 2024, after the series' move to USA Network was confirmed.
Outside the science fiction spotlight, he has worked on projects such as The Curse of Sleeping Beauty and Puppet Master: Axis of Termination. These titles fill genre digital shelves and show that Fiehler prefers steady work to waiting for a role that never comes. On set, he is known as an actor who arrives with his lines learned and causes no problems in the editing room.
In 2024, filming for the new episodes of Resident Alien was scheduled in Vancouver, with a production budget trimmed by 15% compared to the previous season.
