Synopsis of Mars

It blends documentary and hard science fiction, and airs on National Geographic. In the year 2033, six astronauts launch from Florida with one goal: to be the first people to set foot on Mars. During the descent through the Martian atmosphere, their spacecraft, the Daedalus, suffers a malfunction and lands 75.3 kilometers from the intended site, where a habitat sent earlier awaits them. On Earth, the mission control team follows every step of the mission. The fiction is interspersed with real interviews with scientists, engineers and public figures of today, who explain the challenges the journey and life on the Red Planet could pose.
