Synopsis of Babylon 5

In 2257, humanity builds the space station Babylon 5 as a neutral ground for trade and diplomacy between species, with the aim of preventing new wars like the ones they had just endured. Human staff who run the station and alien diplomats assigned to it live together, all isolated in the middle of space. Shortly after their arrival, Vorlon ambassador Kosh narrowly survives an assassination attempt, and Commander Jeffrey Sinclair, played by Michael O'Hare, becomes the main suspect. Created by J. Michael Straczynski, the series aired on the Prime Time Entertainment Network, and its focus falls on a cast mixing military officers, doctors and ambassadors from different worlds.

Trivia about Babylon 5

Straczynski conceived the series as a "television novel," with a five-year story arc planned in advance, something unusual for American television at the time.
Straczynski wrote 92 of the 110 episodes, including all 44 episodes of the third and fourth seasons, something never before achieved in American television.
Straczynski estimated that each episode cost about $650,000, compared with $1.5 million per episode for Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Christopher Franke composed the soundtrack for all five seasons, after Stewart Copeland, who had worked on the original TV movie, was unable to return for the first season.
As many as twelve people took turns playing supporting alien roles wearing prosthetics and makeup, and the production informally called them the "Babylon 5 Alien Rep Group."
Warner Bros. doubted that audiences would stick with a continuing storyline and that a science fiction series, with the exception of Star Trek, would make it to three seasons before being canceled.
In 2023, the direct-to-video animated film "Babylon 5: The Road Home" premiered, written by J. Michael Straczynski, with Bruce Boxleitner, Claudia Christian, Peter Jurasik, Bill Mumy, Tracy Scoggins and Patricia Tallman reprising their roles as voice actors.
The film brought back part of the original cast and replaced deceased actors with new voices, such as Rebecca Riedy as Delenn, Phil LaMarr as Franklin and Anthony Hansen as Garibaldi. It was released on August 15, 2023.
