Trivia about Miami Vice

The series' theme song won two Grammy Awards in 1986, in addition to achieving commercial and critical success.

Three official albums of original music from the episodes were released during the series' run.

According to one account, NBC executive Brandon Tartikoff wrote a note with the words "MTV cops," though creator Anthony Yerkovich denies it.

Mickey Rourke was another contender for the role of Crockett, but turned down the offer the producers made him.

It was one of the first programs on an American television network to air in stereo, and it was mixed in stereo throughout its entire run.

Crockett and Tubbs wore an average of eight different suits per episode, in shades ranging from pink to fuchsia.

Edward James Olmos replaced Gregory Sierra as Lieutenant Castillo after the first five episodes, when Sierra left the series; Olmos won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for the role.

The series ended in 1989 after five seasons and 111 episodes because its high production costs coincided with a drop in ratings, according to available data.
