Synopsis of Roswell

Roswell is a town in New Mexico where, according to legend, a UFO crashed in 1947. Liz Parker, Maria DeLuca, and Alex Whitman are high school friends who live there. Liz works as a waitress at the Crashdown Café, her parents' restaurant, which serves alien-themed dishes. An argument between two customers breaks the restaurant's routine. Liz, a girl with insatiable curiosity, analyzes a saliva sample from Max Evans and discovers that his cells are not human. When she confronts him, Max confesses that he, his sister Isabel, and their friend Michael are aliens from Antar. Now they must hide their identity and figure out what they're doing on Earth. A love triangle develops between Max, Liz, and Kyle Valenti, the sheriff's son whom Liz is dating. The series, created by Jason Katims, airs on The WB and stars Jason Behr.

Trivia about Roswell

The pilot episode was shot in twelve days on a budget of 2 000 000 dollars, according to the series' production timeline.

The series began on Fox but ended up on The WB, which offered to expand an initial commitment of 22 episodes. The network also changed its title to Roswell.

The second episode, “The Morning After,” was the first to feature the full title sequence, with Dido's “Here With Me” as its theme song.

Several locations in Covina, California, including the city hall and Charter Oak High School, served as settings for Roswell, New Mexico, although the series was filmed in California.

Many original songs were replaced in the home video releases due to licensing issues, although a few with an important role in the plot were kept.

Decades later, the story got a new version, Roswell, New Mexico, which aired on The CW for four seasons.

Shiri Appleby auditioned for the three lead female roles and landed the part of Liz Parker after reading for that character five times; Majandra Delfino tried out for Liz before opting for Maria DeLuca.

The series won two awards and received 24 nominations over its run, according to the IMDb record for the 1999 production.
