Synopsis of A Discovery of Witches

Diana Bishop is a brilliant historian who rejects her identity as a witch and prefers to stay away from magic. At the Bodleian Library in Oxford, she comes across an enchanted manuscript that pulls her back into the supernatural world. Her goal is to uncover the secrets the book holds about magical beings, a pursuit that puts her up against creatures she barely knows. To move forward, she gets help from Matthew Clairmont, a mysterious geneticist who is also a vampire. Created by Kate Brooke, the series airs on Sky One and stars Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode.

Trivia about A Discovery of Witches

Sky One renewed the series on November 2, 2018, ahead of airing the season one finale, and ordered a second and third season.

In December 2019, it was announced that filming of the next season had wrapped in the United Kingdom and that the rest would be shot in Italy.

Much of the filming took place on location in Wales and at the Bad Wolf Studios in Cardiff.

In January 2019, the series was named a finalist for Best New Drama at the National Television Awards, at its 24th ceremony.

In the United States, it debuted on April 7, 2019 on AMC and BBC America, airing alongside the second season of Killing Eve.

Season 3 was the series' last; its cancellation was tied to the decision to adapt the main literary trilogy, while the possible spin-off based on "Time's Convert" had no confirmed cast.

Season 3 premiered in the United States on January 8, 2022 on Sundance Now, Shudder and AMC+, with simultaneous availability on all three platforms.

The American adaptation launched through an unprecedented partnership between Sundance Now and Shudder, which made all episodes available at the same time.
