Synopsis of Silo

In a dystopian future, a community lives inside a giant silo that extends 144 floors underground. About 10,000 people live there under a set of regulations they believe are meant to protect them. Juliette is an engineer who works on the generators in the deepest levels, where her job keeps her close to how the entire complex runs. But when a mystery emerges that threatens to call the silo's origins and foundations into question, Juliette begins to question what she has been told and to search for answers. Created by Graham Yost, the series airs on Apple TV and stars Rebecca Ferguson as the engineer.

Trivia about Silo

The series' main set consists of three levels of stairs decorated to represent specific locations, and filming began in late August 2021 in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire.

Atli Örvarsson was announced as the series composer in March 2023, after previously working with Morten Tyldum on Defending Jacob, another Apple TV+ production.

The project was announced as a feature film at 20th Century Fox, which negotiated in May 2012 to acquire the self-published e-book Wool by Hugh Howey.

Rotten Tomatoes shows an overall approval rating of 87 percent from both critics and audiences, according to the data collected by the site.

Filming on the second season was officially suspended in July 2023 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which halted much of Hollywood's production.

The third season of «Silo» will have ten episodes, premiere on July 3, 2026, and feature new cast members including Jessica Henwick, Ashley Zukerman, Laura Innes and Colin Hanks.

Apple TV+ has renewed «Silo» for a fourth and final season, with a premiere date set for July 9, 2027.
