Synopsis of Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso is a college American football coach, full of enthusiasm but with no experience in soccer, who agrees to manage AFC Richmond, a club in the English Premier League. The story takes place in London. Rebecca Welton has taken ownership of the team after divorcing her unfaithful ex-husband, Rupert, and has secretly hired Lasso. Her plan is for the coach to fail and for the club to destroy Rupert, whom she still loves. Ted, however, arrives with a folksy, optimistic style that clashes with players and fans, and he will have to prove his methods work. Created by Bill Lawrence, Jason Sudeikis, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt, the comedy streams on Apple TV and stars Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham.

Trivia about Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso was born in 2013 in a series of NBC Sports promos about the Premier League, where Sudeikis played him as Tottenham's new head coach.

The first season earned 20 Primetime Emmy nominations, making it the most-nominated freshman comedy in awards history.

Brett Goldstein landed the role after sending Bill Lawrence a video audition with scenes as Roy Kent, drawing on his earlier career as a writer and story editor.

One day before filming for season 3 began, Nike posted a photo on Twitter of its Swoosh logo on an AFC Richmond uniform.

Apple TV+ signed a licensing deal with the Premier League worth up to 500 000 pounds for the use of its logos, kits, and trophy starting with season three.

The character Zava is based on Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimović, and his actor, Maximilian Osinski, also drew inspiration from Frenchman Eric Cantona.

Apple TV+ has renewed "Ted Lasso" for a fourth season, with the world premiere set for August 5, 2026, and weekly episodes running through October 7.

Season four welcomes Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely, while Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift return.
