Synopsis of The Walking Dead

Created by Frank Darabont for AMC, the series is set in the Atlanta area, in Georgia, after a zombie apocalypse has devastated the planet. The walkers, as the zombies are called, shuffle toward humans, drawn by noise and smell. Rick Grimes, a sheriff's deputy, wakes from a coma in the first episode and discovers that the world has been overrun by these walkers. He soon becomes the leader of a group of survivors trying to protect themselves from both the walkers and other groups willing to do anything to survive. Andrew Lincoln plays Rick in this post-apocalyptic horror drama.

Trivia about The Walking Dead

Thomas Jane was originally set to star when the series was pitched to HBO, but the guest appearance never materialized after Darabont's departure.
Bear McCreary composed the music and, instead of a full theme, chose a simple, repetitive motif played by the string section.
Andrew Lincoln announced that he would leave the series at the start of the ninth season because filming for half the year in the United States kept him from being with his family in the United Kingdom.
Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride earned around US$9,500 per episode in the first season, rising to US$80,000 by the seventh.
Since its third season, the series has drawn more viewers aged 18 to 49 than any other cable or broadcast series.
The entire series was shot in 16 mm format, and David Tattersall served as cinematographer on the first episode.
The Walking Dead: Dead City has been renewed for a third season. Filming wrapped in Boston at the end of 2025, and the premiere is expected in 2026, although AMC has not yet announced an exact date.
AMC has renewed The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon for a fourth season, which will be the last. It will be partially filmed in Spain, with a premiere expected in fall 2026.
