Trivia about Black Summer

Black Summer is a spin-off of Z Nation that serves as a prequel, but with a much darker and less comedic tone.

Part of the first season was filmed in Calgary, Alberta, at locations such as Queen Elizabeth High School, Stampede Park, and McMahon Stadium.

In April 2019, Black Summer was Netflix's most-watched series in the United Kingdom.

In April 2023, Schaefer and Hyams confirmed that there will be no third season of the series.

Production on the second season began in early 2020, but filming was halted by the pandemic and resumed in Calgary at the end of September that year; the season premiered on June 17, 2021.

The series has one win and two nominations on IMDb, although the consulted source does not specify the awards or corresponding categories in the result.

The second season consists of eight episodes, bringing the series to sixteen produced episodes before it was canceled without a third season.
