Synopsis of The Walking Dead: World Beyond

Ten years after the zombie apocalypse began, the story takes place in a college town in Nebraska. Iris Bennett, a high school student with a passion for science, and Hope, her adopted sister, who is more rebellious and intellectual, belong to the first generation to come of age in a world where no one remembers what things were like before the walkers. Both live in a community that takes them in, but they decide to leave that comfortable, safe home behind and face the dangers outside. They are pursued by those who want to protect them and by those who want to harm them. Played by Aliyah Royale and Alexa Mansour, the leads make their way through hostile territory while questioning what they thought they knew about the world and about themselves. The series, created by Scott M. Gimple and Matthew Negrete, airs on AMC.

Trivia about The Walking Dead: World Beyond

Jordan Vogt-Roberts originally directed the pilot, but he was replaced by Magnus Martens, who had previously directed for Fear the Walking Dead.

The series wanted to film a plane crash in the style of Lost, but not on a Hawaiian beach: filming took place in Hopewell, Virginia, during the first two weeks of August.

Before arriving on AMC, the series premiered on October 1, 2020 on AMC+, the channel's paid on-demand streaming service, with each episode available three days before its broadcast.

Noah Emmerich returns to the series in the role, having previously appeared in the first-season episodes "Wildfire" and "TS-19" of The Walking Dead.

The series was conceived from the start as a limited story in two seasons, with a planned total of twenty episodes, and was not designed to continue beyond that conclusion.

The premiere was initially scheduled for April 12, 2020, but AMC postponed it until October due to production interruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aliyah Royale explained that the cast received four hours of daily training from stunt performers during the first week in Richmond, with hand-to-hand combat drills and weapons handling.

Robert Palmer Watkins said that health measures limited the number of people on set and that a fight filmed in Richmond was especially grueling because of the heat, the humidity, the face masks and the uniform, made of a material similar to neoprene.
