Trivia about The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

The project was first conceived as a trilogy of films about Rick Grimes, and in July 2022 it was announced at San Diego Comic-Con that it would become a television miniseries.

Principal photography took place in New Jersey between February 15 and May 29, 2023, under the working title Summit.

The series premiere drew 3 million viewers over three days of viewing, making it AMC's biggest new series debut since 2018.

The series was included in the best series lists of 2024. MovieWeb ranked it second in its ranking of TV series as of April.

The series picks up right where The Walking Dead left off, in the episode "Rest in Peace," which featured the return of Rick and Michonne.

Filming began with five consecutive nights in New Jersey and a snowfall at four in the morning; Andrew Lincoln described that return as an immediate recovery from the physical hardships of the original series.

Danai Gurira wrote the fourth episode, and Andrew Lincoln worked on the editing, a task that forced him to review his own performances for the first time in three decades as an actor.

The miniseries won two awards and received eight nominations according to IMDb, which identifies the production with the code tt9859436.
