Sliders

Quinn Mallory, a physics student, has built a device capable of opening portals between dimensions. During a test, he, his professor Maximillian Arturo, his classmate Wade Wells, and Rembrandt, a singer who happened to be passing by, are accidentally transported to a parallel universe, and the device loses track of their home world. To return, the group must jump from one dimension to another, using a timer that shows when they can open a new vortex. At each stop they encounter alternate versions of Earth, where history or the laws of physics have changed, and they must solve mysteries or face authoritarian societies. The series was created by Tracy Tormé and Robert K. Weiss, and aired on FOX and Syfy.
