Synopsis of Doctor Who

The Doctor is a time traveler who journeys through time and space with his companion Ruby Sunday. The two travel aboard the TARDIS, a ship disguised as a police box that lets them jump from one era to another. Their journeys take them from Regency England to future worlds ravaged by war. At each stop they encounter characters who become allies and adversaries capable of endangering them both. The series airs on BBC One and Disney+, and stars Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson.

Trivia about Doctor Who

In April 2025, Russell T Davies responded to criticism calling the series "woke," defending diversity as a matter of inclusion; the second season featured, for the first time, a non-white Doctor and companion.

The second season finale ended with a surprise appearance by Billie Piper, after the character played by Ncuti Gatwa regenerated, though the BBC did not clarify what role Piper will take on.

The five-episode spin-off The War Between the Land and the Sea, produced by Bad Wolf and largely filmed in Cardiff, premiered on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on December 7, 2025.

Russell T Davies said the spin-off could have continued on Disney+, but the partnership between the platform and the franchise ended after that production.
