Synopsis of Battlestar Galactica

In a distant star system, humanity lives scattered across twelve colonies known as the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. Long ago, its inhabitants fought against the Cylons, androids created by their own hands. Now, these enemies launch a surprise attack that devastates the planets and leaves about fifty thousand survivors. Only the Battlestar Galactica, a military ship, appears to have escaped destruction. Under the command of Commander William Adama, played by Edward James Olmos, and President Laura Roslin, portrayed by Mary McDonnell, the ship takes the lead of a small fleet of fleeing civilians. Their goal is to find the legendary thirteenth colony, known as Earth, while the Cylons pursue them.

Trivia about Battlestar Galactica

The opening theme uses a New Age-style version of the Gayatri Mantra, a Hindu hymn dedicated to Savitr, the solar deity.
Maureen Ryan of the Chicago Tribune called the show's music "sensational" and described it as "innovative."
The first episode to air in the United States was one of the most-watched programs in Sci-Fi Channel history, with 3.1 million viewers.
Production on the third season began in Vancouver, British Columbia, in April 2006.
A ballet based on McCreary's scores for the series premiered on March 7, 2009 and ran for a 13-week season.
The series had a prequel, Caprica, set more than 50 years before the main series.
The new series project developed by Peacock since 2019 was abandoned in July 2024 without a formal episode order, although Universal Content Productions tried to offer it to other platforms; Derek Simonds was listed as writer and showrunner.
