Synopsis of The Umbrella Academy

Forty-three women from around the world give birth at the same time, at noon on October 1, 1989, without having shown any signs of pregnancy beforehand. Seven of those children are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, an eccentric billionaire who turns them into a team of superheroes he calls The Umbrella Academy. Years later, the siblings are estranged and living very different lives. Luther is half ape and has spent four years on the Moon. Allison is a famous actress, Vanya plays the violin, Klaus is battling a drug addiction, Five lives in the future, and Diego has become a vigilante. When they learn of their father's death, they reunite. Then Five appears with a warning: a global apocalypse is about to happen. The siblings will have to put their differences aside to try to prevent it.

«Too many siblings. Not enough timeline.»

Trivia about The Umbrella Academy

In April 2019, Netflix reported that 45 million households had watched the first season during its first month, making it one of the most-streamed series of the year.
The scene in which Vanya performs in a theater was filmed at the Elgin Theatre and the Winter Garden Theatre.
The series features musical montages, rare in superhero shows, in which for a few seconds it seems to turn into a music video without losing its narrative charm.
The adaptation began as a film, with rights held by Universal Pictures in 2011, and was shelved in 2015 in favor of a television series.
The fourth and final season consists of six episodes, the fewest of any season in the series.
To play Number Five, Aidan Gallagher was chosen after Steve Blackman reviewed more than 320 auditions and received a tape in which the actor looked into the camera and said he would kill for the role.
Mary J. Blige wanted to perform many of her action scenes herself and did much of her own stunt work, although a stunt double was used for the most dangerous sequences.
The fourth season added Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman, and David Cross to the cast, and Netflix premiered it on August 8, 2024 as the final season.
