Synopsis of Marvel's The Defenders

A few months after the second season of Daredevil and one month after the first season of Iron Fist, New York brings together four vigilantes who until now have operated separately. Matt Murdock is a blind lawyer who defends Hell's Kitchen, Jessica Jones is a private investigator, Luke Cage is a former convict who fights crime in Harlem, and Danny Rand is a billionaire Buddhist monk with mystical powers. Each one protects their neighborhood in their own way. The threat that forces them together is the Hand, an organization that becomes the common enemy of all four. To stop it, they must work together despite their differences. The miniseries, created by Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez for Netflix, brings the Defenders together over eight episodes.

«The devil of Hell's Kitchen, the smart-ass detective, the hero of Harlem & the kid with the glowing fist.»

Trivia about Marvel's The Defenders

According to a third-party analysis, the miniseries was the least-watched Marvel series on Netflix so far and suffered the largest week-over-week drop of all.
Despite criticism, the series was the third most-binged title worldwide at the time of its premiere, according to Netflix.
Stan Lee appears in the series through a photograph placed on set, in the role of Police Captain Irving Forbush.
The Aeolus Quartet appears in the series playing themselves and performs Johannes Brahms' String Quartet No. 1 for Alexandra.
The title sequence, designed by Elastic, recalls the company's work on True Detective, with the characters formed from maps of New York.
Filming began on October 31, 2016 under the working title “Group Therapy” and wrapped on March 19, 2017 in New York, while it may have overlapped with production of the second season of “Jessica Jones.”
The series was removed from Netflix on March 1, 2022 after Disney regained the rights, and began streaming on Disney+ on March 16 of that same year.
Doug Petrie left his duties at the start of filming, although he shared creation of the miniseries with Marco Ramirez.
