Elden Henson

Elden Henson was born in 1977 under the name Elden Ryan Ratliff. His mother was a photographer and got him into child modeling before he could even talk. By age two, he was already working in national TV commercials.

There was no mystical revelation or early calling for classical theater. It was a matter of family momentum. His siblings also acted, and the film sets were simply where they spent their summers while other kids went to camp.

In 1992, his life changed because of a hockey stick. The release of The Mighty Ducks gave him the role of Fulton Reed, the tough kid who couldn't skate but could shoot the puck with tremendous force. That Disney production performed like clockwork at the U.S. box office.

The film spawned two immediate sequels that grossed more than 100 million dollars worldwide. Henson spent his teenage years filming these youth-oriented stories while trying to finish high school at Burbank High School.

And Henson learned early that in this industry, you're only as good as your latest hit.

The Supporting Player Who Holds the Frame

After the glory years of his youth, the actor sought roles that would move him away from the child prodigy label. In 1999, he filmed The Devil Made Me Do It and shortly after appeared in O, a modern adaptation of Othello. Yet the general public still saw him as the eternal sidekick to the handsome leading man.

He never minded staying in the background. In 2000, he had a brief but intense role in Cast Away alongside Tom Hanks. Those were his years of real learning, when he understood that a good supporting actor can save a mediocre scene with just a couple of well-placed gestures.

Because acting sometimes means waiting by the phone for months.

The chance to join a global franchise came knocking again in 2014. He played Pollux in the final two installments of The Hunger Games. It was a physically demanding job (his character was mute) where all the dramatic weight rested on his gaze and his ability to convey anguish without saying a single word.

The Return to the Lawyer Suit

His most defining role as a professional is Foggy Nelson. In 2015, he signed with Marvel and Netflix to bring to life Matt Murdock's best friend in the series Daredevil. His performance moved away from the comic book clown and built a character with an unwavering sense of ethics.

He filmed 39 episodes of the original series until the platform canceled production in 2018. During that time, he also appeared in the crossovers The Defenders, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage. He was the human glue of a superhero universe that sometimes took itself far too seriously.

So the news of his return did not surprise those who know the business.

In 2024, he joined the shoot of Daredevil: Born Again to reprise his role as a New York lawyer. The initial contract for this new chapter under the Disney label called for a production split into several filming phases to accommodate the schedules of the lead actors.

Filming of the new scenes in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood officially wrapped in April 2024, after several months of delays caused by the writers' strikes in the United States.
