Synopsis of Stargate Universe

A group of soldiers, civilians, and scientists lives at Icarus Base, a remote outpost where the Stargate runs on naquadria deposits in a planet's core. Dr. Nicholas Rush, together with Eli Wallace, believes that nine chevrons can dial a distant address and works to decipher the Ancients' writing. When the base comes under attack, several of its inhabitants pass through the gate earlier than planned and end up aboard the Destiny, a ship launched by the Ancients and left unfinished. They soon discover that they cannot return to Earth, that the ship is billions of light-years from home, and that they barely control their surroundings. Their goal is to survive on board while searching for a way back.

Trivia about Stargate Universe

Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping, and Michael Shanks, stars of SG-1, were set to appear in some of the early episodes, as announced in April.

According to Robert Carlyle, each episode had a budget of $2 million US dollars, a figure the actor gave in the sources consulted.

The episode “Air (Part 3)” was filmed in Alamogordo, New Mexico, from late April to early May 2009.

The shooting style was inspired by Cloverfield, with the idea that a documentary crew would accompany the adventure through space.

The episodes “Air” and “Space” were nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards in 2010 in the category of Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series.

The episode “Time” won the Writers Guild of Canada award for Best Dramatic Series (One Hour) in 2010.

Syfy canceled the series on December 16, 2010 and did not order a third season; the decision came after a notable drop in ratings between the first and second seasons.
