Mike Dopud

Mike Dopud didn't come into the industry seeking critical approval. He broke in through punches and controlled falls. Before becoming a familiar face on North American television, he earned his living in the Canadian Football League. That physical toughness let him enter film through the stunt door.

In 1996, he began working as a stunt double. But his ambition went beyond taking hits for others. He knew his physical presence could carry dialogue scenes, not just fight choreography. So he started combining leaps into the unknown with small roles in series that are now cult favorites.

Risk was always part of the deal.

The Chameleonic Face of Science Fiction

In the Stargate universe, he achieved something very few manage. He played three different characters across three different series in the franchise. In 2010, he stepped into the role of Varro in Stargate Universe and proved he could carry the emotional weight of a complex supporting storyline. Because Dopud understands that in fantasy, credibility depends on restraint.

His role in Battlestar Galactica during 2006 reinforced that image of a nuanced action man. But the real breakthrough came when casting directors for major superhero productions took notice of him. In 2013 he appeared in Man of Steel, and in 2018 he appeared in Deadpool 2.

Maturity in the Crime Thriller

The years of anonymous tough guys ended when named villain roles arrived. In 2017, he joined the cast of Power to play Jason Micic. That role as a Serbian mobster gave him a different kind of visibility beyond the science fiction niche. And he did it without giving up the physical intensity that has defined him from the start.

In 2023, he returned to the criminal world in Power Book IV: Force. Filming in Chicago is tough because of the weather, but Dopud is used to extreme conditions from his days as an athlete. His approach to work is no-nonsense and direct. He doesn't get lost in endless psychological analysis when the script already sets the pace of the scene.

Audiences began to recognize the man behind the scar.

During 2024, he appeared in the series Skymed as Tony. Besides acting, he runs his own production company to develop projects where he has full creative control. His IMDb profile lists more acting credits than stunt work since 2005. The actors' union lists his official residence as Vancouver.
