Synopsis of The Order

Jack Morton is a first-year student at Belgrave University, a campus where everything seems normal until he decides to join the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose, a secret society that teaches and practices magic. He joins for a personal reason: he wants to avenge his mother's death, and to do so he commits to the group. As he digs deeper into the organization's history, he begins to uncover dark family secrets. Around him, a covert battle rages between werewolves and the dark arts of magic, and Jack finds himself caught in the middle of the conflict. Alyssa Drake, another student who also works as a campus guide, is part of the order. Created by Dennis Heaton, the series premiered on Netflix and stars Jake Manley.

Trivia about The Order

The fictional Belgrave University campus was filmed at several buildings at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, but the aerial shots of the campus are of Georgetown University in Washington.

The abandoned building where The Order sets up is Riverview Hospital in Coquitlam, a former hospital in the Vancouver area.

Netflix ordered the first season in April 2018 with ten episodes, and the series was later renewed for a second season of ten.

Rotten Tomatoes gave the first season a 100% approval rating, with an average score of 7.5/10 based on 8 reviews.

The series earned a ReFrame Stamp in 2021 and received 14 nominations at the Leo Awards, including recognition for production, production design and several performances.

Netflix canceled "The Order" after two seasons in November 2020, a decision publicly confirmed by creator Dennis Heaton.

The third season would have included Alyssa's resurrection, although the character would have returned possessed and accompanied by other corpses, according to the idea Heaton shared after the cancellation.
