Jedidiah Goodacre was born in Petrolia, Ontario, a town named after the oil industry, where young people's futures often seem far from the Hollywood spotlight. Before stepping onto a set, he worked in construction to pay for his studies. In 2012, he took the leap and enrolled at the Vancouver Film School to learn the craft from the inside.
His big break didn't take long to arrive. In 2013, he landed a minor role in the series The Tomorrow People, and shortly after appeared in the TV movie Restless Virgins. But it was the Disney universe that put him on the radar of international audiences.
And the gamble paid off.
In 2015, he played Chad Charming in Descendants, a production that drew millions of viewers during its cable premiere. Goodacre brought the son of Cinderella to life with a mix of arrogance and comedy that convinced producers to bring him back for the sequels to 2017 and 2019.
Actors with his look often get stuck in one-dimensional teen heartthrob roles. Goodacre tried to break that pattern by pursuing projects in horror and dark fantasy. In 2018, he joined the cast of The 100 as Roman, and that same year he appeared in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as Dorian Gray.
Because the actor prefers characters who hide secrets behind a neat, polished appearance.
During 2019 and 2020, he was part of the main cast of The Order on Netflix. There, he played Kyle, a member of a college secret society who dealt with werewolves and dark magic. The series was canceled after two seasons, leaving several storylines open that fans still ask about on social media.
In 2021, he starred in the romantic comedy Finding You, shot entirely in Ireland. The script required him to play the violin and show a far more vulnerable side than in his earlier supernatural roles. The film grossed nearly three million dollars at the U.S. box office during a period of theater restrictions.
But success isn't always a straight line.
The actor has kept a steady work pace, alternating supporting roles in major franchises with lead roles in B-movies. In 2023, he took part in the thriller Marry F*** Kill, directed by Caroline Labrèche. This Canadian production was shot on a tight budget and aimed to recapture the spirit of the deadly game movies of the early 2000s.
Off camera, he keeps a low profile in Vancouver. He is a passionate hiker and extreme sports fan, which has helped him perform his own action scenes without stunt doubles in low-budget projects. His technical training helps him understand editing timing, a detail cinematographers often appreciate on set.
In 2024, he worked on post-production for several independent projects focused on the Canadian domestic market. Filming for his most recent movie role lasted just twenty-two days on location in Ontario.
