Adam DiMarco was born in Oakville, Ontario, far from the spotlight of Los Angeles but with an eye on acting for as long as they can remember. Their first steps weren't glamorous, because the Canadian industry moves at a different pace, slower and more craft-driven.
He started out studying at the Vancouver Film School.
There he learned that being an actor takes more endurance than pure talent. In 2011 he landed his first credited role in the movie Do Something with Your Life, which taught him how a professional film shoot works from the inside.
For years he landed one Disney Channel project after another, such as Radio Rebel in 2012 or Zapped in 2014. These were roles where he played the nice-guy type, with little room to explore the psychology of his characters.
Then genre television came calling.
In 2016, he joined the cast of The Magicians to play Todd. It was a turning point for him technically, because the series demanded a different physicality and a command of comedic timing he had not explored until then.
Shortly after, in 2019, he starred in Netflix's The Order. The series ran for two seasons and allowed him to lead a young cast with a plot about werewolves and secret societies that worked very well with the platform's teen audience.
Everything changed when Mike White noticed him for the second season of The White Lotus, filmed in 2022. Playing Albie Di Grasso meant tackling a script loaded with subtext about modern masculinity and generational privilege.
Sharing scenes with Michael Imperioli and F. Murray Abraham pushed him to raise his acting game. Critics praised his ability to convey the mix of tenderness and awkwardness that defined his character in the hallways of the Sicilian hotel.
It was the most-watched project of his career.
But DiMarco didn't limit himself to acting. In 2023 he released music under the stage name Goodies, because he has always believed that artistic disciplines feed off each other. His songs fall into an indie pop sound, which he recorded independently.
He is scheduled to premiere in Final Destination: Bloodlines in 2025. This installment of the horror franchise marks his return to big-budget commercial film after his stint in HBO's prestige television.
Filming for this latest movie took place mainly in Vancouver during the first half of 2024, directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein. The production had an estimated budget of $50 million to revitalize the franchise.
