Synopsis of Patrick Melrose
After his father's death, in the 1980s, Patrick Melrose, a British aristocrat, tries to overcome the addictions he has carried since childhood. His father was cruel to him and his mother did not protect him, so his demons are rooted in that abuse and neglect. Patrick wants to face his past, stay sober, and fit into society as a stable person capable of being a good father. Created by David Nicholls, the series stars Benedict Cumberbatch and airs on Showtime and Sky Atlantic. It is based on the semi-autobiographical novels by Edward St Aubyn.
