Synopsis of Merlin

Merlin is a British fantasy series created by Jake Michie, Johnny Capps, Julian Murphy and Julian Jones for BBC One, starring Colin Morgan. The story follows a young sorcerer who arrives in the kingdom of Camelot, sent by his mother, who places him in the home of Gaius, the court physician and the boy's maternal uncle. There he discovers that King Uther Pendragon has outlawed magic and imprisoned the last surviving dragon in the caves beneath the castle. After hearing a mysterious voice in his head, Merlin descends into those depths and comes face to face with the Great Dragon. Meanwhile, he tries to hide his powers in a court where practicing magic can cost you your life. His relationship with Prince Arthur, whom he mistakes for an arrogant and stubborn bully, doesn't get off to a good start either.

Trivia about Merlin

Filming took place in Wales and France, and one of the locations was Château de Pierrefonds, which appears in the production alongside Welsh settings.
NBC's broadcast in the United States was the first British drama in more than 30 years to air on an American network rather than PBS or cable.
The series was nominated for several awards and won the British award for best visual effects in 2011.
On Antena Neox, it was the top-rated series in its time slot, but after moving to Antena 3, its audience dropped significantly.
Two of the show's original scripts were published on a BBC website aimed at screenwriters.
The premiere of "Merlin" drew 6.6 million viewers in the United Kingdom, according to ratings data published the day after it aired.
On November 26, 2012, the BBC announced that the fifth season would be the last, as those in charge felt the story was designed to unfold over five seasons.
The fifth season had 13 episodes and ended with a two-part special that aired during Christmas 2012.
