Synopsis of The Purge

In an alternate United States ruled by a totalitarian party, the Purge is a twelve-hour period during which all crimes are legal. The story takes place in New Orleans on the night of 2027 and follows characters who, at first, seem to have no connection to one another. Miguel, a Marine, returns home after receiving a cryptic message from his sister Penelope, who belongs to a cult that worships the Purge. Jane, a financier determined to take revenge on a glass ceiling at her company, hires an assassin for the night. Jenna and Rick, a married entrepreneur couple, attend a Purge party to secure funding from a wealthy sympathizer. Joe drives around the city armed and masked, and Lila, a rebellious young woman, tries to settle unfinished business before dawn. Created by James DeMonaco, the series airs on USA Network.
