Dune

In a distant future, the known galaxy is ruled by a feudal system of noble houses under the rule of the Emperor. Alliances and politics revolve around a small planet, Dune, the sole source of the 'spice melange,' the raw material that makes space travel possible. House Atreides, under the rule of Duke Leto Atreides, is entrusted with guarding the planet, taking over the duty from its longtime enemies, the Harkonnens. Paul Atreides, the duke's son, becomes caught up in political intrigue as he uncovers the destiny that awaits him in the deserts of Dune.
