What Season 1 of The Closer
Season one begins with the launch of a new Major Crimes unit within the Los Angeles Police Department, which soon becomes known as the Major Crimes Division. Leading it is Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson, a former interrogator from Atlanta who was trained by the CIA and has a reputation as a "closer" for getting confessions that lead to convictions. Her first case involves a tech genius. The main conflict is her fitting in with the department. Many colleagues see her as an outsider, and Captain Taylor of Robbery-Homicide tries to get his team to request transfers en masse. Lieutenant Flynn also puts up obstacles. Brenda stays calm and tests her methods with every crime, all while earning the trust of her aide, Sergeant David Gabriel.
