Synopsis of Seinfeld

Jerry Seinfeld plays a fictionalized version of himself: a comedian who lives in an apartment on Manhattan's Upper West Side. His life revolves around a small circle of friends and acquaintances. Among them are his best friend George Costanza, played by Jason Alexander, his ex-girlfriend Elaine Benes, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and his neighbor across the hall, Cosmo Kramer, played by Michael Richards. There are no big storylines. The series focuses on the minutiae of everyday life in New York, such as doing laundry or the struggle of men trying to read the intentions of the women who spend the night in his apartment. Created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld for NBC, the sitcom turns everyday life into comedy material, with his stand-up routines woven between the scenes.

Trivia about Seinfeld

Brandon Tartikoff, an NBC executive, was not convinced the pilot would work and called it «Too New York, too Jewish».
Seinfeld and David didn't see NBC's memo for several years and, once they found it, they hung it in a set bathroom as a reminder of the pilot's poor reception.
The pilot finished second in its time slot against CBS's police drama Jake and the Fatman, with a Nielsen rating of 10.9/19.
Castle Rock accepted NBC's order because it couldn't find another buyer, and it was the smallest comedy order in television history.
Teri Hatcher, who played Lois Lane in Lois & Clark, plays Sidra, Jerry's girlfriend, on the series.
The series finale of «Seinfeld» drew 76.3 million viewers in the United States and captured 67% of TV sets in use, one of the largest audiences ever for a television farewell.
"Seinfeld" won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series in 1993 and received nominations in that category for seven consecutive years, from 1992 to 1998.
Jerry Seinfeld decided to end the series after nine seasons, even though NBC offered him more money to continue; the broadcast concluded with 180 episodes.
