Synopsis of Gilmore Girls

Lorelai Gilmore raises her daughter Rory on her own in Stars Hollow, a fictional town in Connecticut. Rory is a brilliant teenager who dreams of getting into Harvard, and to do so she needs to enroll at Chilton, a prep school in Hartford. Lorelai doesn't have the money, so she'll have to ask her wealthy parents, Emily and Richard Gilmore, whom she has barely spoken to since leaving home when she got pregnant. They agree to lend her the money on one condition: having dinner with them every Friday. The series was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino for The WB and stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel.

Trivia about Gilmore Girls

For the series, the «Midwest Street» set was built behind the Warner Brothers studios, and some of it was partly recycled from La Exótica.
The Stars Hollow shot from the first frame of the opening credits is actually a panoramic view of southern Royalton, Vermont.
In the pilot, Sookie was played by Alex Borstein, but she couldn't get out of her contract with Mad TV, so Melissa McCarthy reshot her scenes.
Liza Weil auditioned for the role of Rory, but was deemed wrong for it. Sherman-Palladino liked her so much that she wrote the role of Paris for her.
The role of Luke was announced as a guest part, but Scott Patterson treated the pilot as a chemistry test and ended up promoted to a regular.
Edward Herrmann and Kelly Bishop, who play the Gilmore grandparents, had both won the Tony Award in 1976.
Stars Hollow was loosely inspired by the towns of Washington Depot, West Hartford and New Milford, all in Connecticut.
Bledel recalled that one of the scenes took 38 takes to get right, which gives an idea of the show's shooting pace.
